All Admissions to Mill Ford School are made through the local authority – which is Plymouth City Council. A professional such as an Educational Psychologist or Portage Worker may suggest a place at a special school is suitable for a child and may stipulate which type of special school, as there are many in Plymouth.
Application for a place at any special school, including Mill Ford, will be submitted to Plymouth’s Multi-agency Joint Admissions Panel if parents/carers are in agreement with this. This includes requests for admission from other local authorities.
Admissions may take place at any time during the year if places are available but we always encourage prospective parents/carers to visit the school, bringing their child with them before making any decision.
Once a place has been offered we will work with parents/carers and other professionals involved in a child’s life in order to ensure a smooth and positive transition. In line with all that we do, every transition will be personalized to each child’s needs.
