Sport and Leisure

We at Mill Ford School see fitness for life as very important and work to instil in pupils a love of sport.  To achieve this we buy in a specialist iPE teacher, with particular skills in disability sport.  Our PE specialist supports us by:

  • Setting up inter school events to allow competition with other schools
  •
  • Supporting community clubs and our links with them
  • Setting up specialist coaching sessions (e.g. rugby days, weekly tennis)
  • Talent ID through links with disability coaches
  • Professional development within school
  • Setting up weekly swimming lessons for our students at the life centre
  • Supporting assessment of progression within PE

We also have strong links with 1st for Community Sports

Mark Blackler from 1st for Community Sports runs a tennis academy for talented tennis players, which some of pupils access.

Through these sporting activities we work together to encourage pupils to take up sport outside school.
