School Council
The School’s council is made up of representatives of the secondary age classes, who have been elected by their class mates.
Those children who need support in conveying their views will be supported by a known and trusted assistant.
Primary aged children mirror the work of the council by learning to express their views in circle time and in sessions with the Speech and Language Therapist.
The School’s Council meets termly or more often if there is an issue that needs the pupils’ views to be heard. A recent example of this was the consultation about school dinners and healthy eating that formed part of our preparation for the Healthy School’s Award. The children’s views were not what we had expected, and as a result we now have broccoli more frequently!
The children enjoy coming to the meetings, and one parent reported that her son was so proud of being a councilor.
