Parent, Teacher and Friends Association
PTA meeting : 3/6/09
Apologies – Jon Stevens, Marion Drabble, Resi Classen, Niccy Cheney, Linda Miners. Attending – Tweeny Van Mierlo, Helga Pinn, Sue Shepherd, Jean Watson, Julie Rowe, Alan Reid, Glenda Smith, Carol Wood, Alison Blake, Donna Brownrigg, Chris Pollock.
Discussion points
- Julie Rowe presented the financial report – at present, PTA has £20,717-97 (Business account) and £3,213-98 (Current account). We need to be doing some major fundraising over the next couple of years to help finance the needs of the school. Merging the PTA fund and School Fund has been put on hold at present. We need to start charting how fundraising is going e.g. thermometer-type indicator?
- Summer Fair – we discussed stalls, location and other practical aspects. Advertising is important, especially as we are having a Fancy Dress competition (High School Musical and any other American ideas). Separate letters to go home, asking for help, as well as posters to be sent out locally. We need lots more volunteers! Separate list of jobs to be done.
- Picnic – Sunday 19th July for pupils’ and staff families – to be advertised asap. Tweeny will make a “Pass the Parcel”. Sand and Splash to be used? A Wii tennis match will be organised (VOLUNTEER NEEDED TO ORGANISE).
- We are looking into a new “user-friendly” name for the PTA – suggestions to be brought to the next meeting.
- We discussed the need for the school website to give a wider range of information for parents. Chris Pollock has volunteered to look at updating it – thank you to Chris! (Alan Reid will organise a meeting)
- Linda Miners sent feedback on her work with parents e.g. first aid
- PTA minutes to be sent home after each meeting to keep everyone informed about what the committee is doing.
- Meeting closed at 8.15
