Pupil Premium

The Government introduced "Pupil Premium". It is an additional sum of money provided to schools to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and their peers. It ensures that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most. The Pupil Premium allocation to schools also includes a sum to provide additional resources for "Looked after Children" (LAC).

It is up to schools to decide how to spend their Pupil Premium funds, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.  See www.education.gov.uk for more information. School have a duty to publish online information about how they have used the Pupil Premium, to ensure that Parents and others are fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium and the impact of this spend.
