Outreach and Inclusion
At Mill Ford School, we are proud to work in partnership with Longcause Special School and Plymouth City Council to provide a comprehensive outreach service designed to support mainstream schools. Our mission is to empower mainstream settings to effectively meet the diverse needs of pupils with learning difficulties through consultation, professional development, and direct specialist support.
Our Collaborative Approach
Our service is built on a foundation of holistic and collaborative solutions. By drawing on the extensive expertise of specialists across our schools, we deliver a bespoke approach that is both non-judgmental and designed to build staff confidence. We believe in providing a "fresh pair of eyes" to help mainstream colleagues navigate complex challenges.
Services We Provide
We offer bespoke, practical support tailored to the unique needs of each educational setting.
Our core services include:
- Consultation and Professional Development: Delivering tailored training and mentoring to empower school staff.
- Capacity Building: Strengthening networks and professional development opportunities to support whole-school inclusion.
- Pupil-Focused Support: Advising on strategies for individual pupils or groups and reviewing individual progress.
- Preventative Care: Working to prevent exclusion within mainstream settings.
- Quality Improvement: Providing feedback and contributing to decision-making processes for statutory assessments and provision.
Our Aims
The overarching goal of the Plymouth Outreach Service is to ensure that children with complex SEND receive a high-quality, inclusive education while having their exceptional needs met. We strive to increase parental confidence in inclusive education by ensuring the right help is delivered in the right place at the right time.
How to Access Support
To ensure every school receives the most appropriate level of assistance, all referrals are discussed at a triage meeting which takes place each half term.
